English Language Instructor

With 27 years of experience in English education, PEN Languages welcomes dedicated instructors who can deliver engaging, effective lessons to adult learners from diverse backgrounds.

Required qualifications

  • Our target is a minimum of five years of professional ESL/EFL teaching experience. Applicants with less experience may still apply and will be reviewed.
  • Experience teaching learners from varied linguistic, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability and willingness to teach in person in North York and online.
  • Strong lesson planning, assessment, adaptability, classroom management, and professional communication.

Qualifications considered assets

  • TESL Ontario or TESL Canada certification.
  • Teaching IELTS, TOEFL, CELPIP, PTE Academic, Duolingo English Test, MET, and academic writing.
  • Experience with individual and group instruction of adults.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) and learner-centred teaching methods.
Compensation: CA$20–$25 per hour during probation, based on qualifications and experience. After successful probation, the hourly rate will increase based on demonstrated performance, experience, and mutual agreement. The post-probation amount is not predetermined.
